Big Data / Backend Developer (Java & Python)

For our client – a large organization from the insurance and financial services sector – we are looking for an experienced Big Data / Backend Developer to support the development of advanced data processing platforms and backend systems.

The role involves designing, implementing and maintaining solutions built around Big Data technologies and microservices architecture, while ensuring high quality, scalability and compliance with engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document detailed IT system solutions based on architecture guidelines
• Participate in preparing and refining system requirements
• Estimate development effort for system changes and new functionalities
• Implement backend solutions and support development activities
• Supervise implementation work delivered by external vendors and review source code and technical documentation
• Ensure that delivered solutions meet functional, non-functional and operational requirements
• Maintain and update technical documentation repositories
• Support development teams during solution deployments and stabilization phases
• Identify project risks and propose mitigation actions
• Contribute to development standards for system design, documentation and implementation
• Participate in introducing and evaluating new technologies
• Ensure software quality and compliance with best engineering practices
• Provide support within 3rd line ServiceDesk

Ideal candidate profile

• Strong experience in designing and developing IT systems
• Very good knowledge of Java and Python
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and clean code principles
• Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, NiFi, Elasticsearch, Hive or Flink
• Experience in building microservices and/or REST APIs
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes environments
• Practical knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo
• Good knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL)
• Experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot

   

Nice to have:

• Experience working with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, HBase)
• Experience using IntelliJ IDEA / PyCharm and Git
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments

Conditions

• Work model:Hybrid (1 day per week from Warsaw office)
• Contract type: B2B
• Rate: 140-150  pln/h
