Software Engineering Lead

Role & Responsibilities:

• Lead a geographically distributed Scrum team (US West Coast and Central Europe).
• Develop low-latency, high-throughput backend software solutions (JVM, REST API) in a cloud-native, geo-distributed system.
• Take end-to-end responsibility, including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Propose and document comprehensive solutions, review design documents, and estimate and plan engineering tasks.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.

About You:

• Backend Software Development: 7+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Microservice Development: Strong experience with JVM-based microservices using OOP or functional programming languages (e.g., Clojure, Scala).
• Cloud Experience: 2+ years of working with AWS cloud-native environments.
• Testing & CI/CD: Experience with unit testing, automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and source control systems.
• Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
• Collaboration & Growth Mindset: Able to collaborate across teams and share knowledge, with a desire to learn and grow.

Willing to work in shifted hours (until 18:30, ~3 times per week).

Helpful to Have:

• Clojure/Scala Experience: Familiarity with functional programming languages and related service frameworks.
• Scalable APIs: Experience with building customer-facing, scalable, and high-performance RESTful APIs.
• Monitoring & Tools: Familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, and tools for monitoring high-traffic APIs.
• Automated Testing: Experience with tools like Cucumber, RestAssured, and their use in CI/CD.
• Database & Messaging: Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, messaging systems like Redis, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, S3, Kinesis, Kafka.
• Cloud Technologies: Proficiency with AWS, Docker, K8S.
• Workflow Automation: Experience with workflow automation tools like Airflow.
• CI/CD & Tools: Familiarity with Jenkins, Confluence, and JIRA.
