Solution Architect
At Jacobs we're embarking on an exciting journey as we initiate the development of our Digital & Data Hub in the heart of Krakow. Our mission is to deliver engineering-driven projects across critical infrastructure sectors, including transportation, rail systems, road construction and maintenance, water management, and environmental monitoring. We focus on solutions that support real-time condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and digital transformation of largescale physical assets such as roads, rail networks, and retention reservoirs.
We are seeking a Solution Architect who will collaborate closely with our U.S.-based project management and technical leadership teams, while working day-to-day with our engineering teams located primarily in Poland. You will contribute to the design and implementation of cloud architectures, integration layers, and real‑time data solutions that support large‑scale infrastructure projects across transportation, rail systems, water management, and environmental monitoring.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with U.S. stakeholders on global initiatives, leverage cutting-edge technologies such as Azure Cloud and advanced data processing frameworks, and help shape the next generation of our monitoring, predictive maintenance, and visualization platforms.
We’re looking for a Solution Architect who combines deep technical expertise with strong collaboration skills and an understanding of business needs. In this role, you will design new architectures, validate existing ones, provide technology guidance, and ensure that proposed solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with organizational objectives.
You will work across complex technology landscapes, shaping architectural blueprints that connect multiple applications, data sources, and systems. Expect hands-on involvement: analyzing current environments, defining future state architectures, and collaborating closely with developers, engineers, and stakeholders. e value professionals who combine broad technical awareness with the ability to handle detailed engineering work.
Responsibilities
Design system architectures and high‑level solution blueprints for cloud‑based platforms built on Azure and the .NET ecosystem, supporting large‑scale infrastructure domains such as transportation, rail systems, road construction, water management, and environmental monitoring.
Architect scalable Azure solutions using services such as App Services, Event Hub, Service Bus, Functions, AKS, Azure Storage, and Azure API Management, ensuring performance, security, and cost optimization.
Define secure network topologies and implement best practices across cloud, data, and integration layers, including identity and access management integrations.
Develop integration strategies and design RESTful/GraphQL APIs in .NET/C#, enabling interoperability, real‑time data exchange, and integration with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS and GeoJSON‑based data services.
Design microservices architectures and implement container orchestration for cloud‑native components supporting monitoring, telemetry, and infrastructure‑related workflows.
Define data storage strategies using relational (SQL) and non‑relational (NoSQL) databases, optimized for telemetry, geospatial data, and large‑scale operational datasets.
Develop big data and ingestion strategies for real‑time sensor data, geospatial feeds, and infrastructure monitoring pipelines, including data lakes and warehousing solutions for analytics and predictive maintenance.
Explore AI/ML capabilities to support anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and operational insights across transportation and critical infrastructure systems.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear business language for executives, engineering leadership, and non‑technical stakeholders.
Here's what you'll need:
8+ years of experience in software engineering and system design, including hands-on work with Azure based cloud systems among other technologies.
Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle.
Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate technical information into business language.
Awareness of market trends and developments within the domain focus, with a keen eye on potential impacts.
Nice to have
Implement architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, MODAF, or SAFe where applicable
Incorporate CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline delivery and environment consistency
