Senior Power BI Platform SME – Governance & Operations

As a Senior Power BI Platform SME (Governance & Operations), you will be working for our client within the CTO Power Platform Team. The team manages the Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and Power BI platforms, enabling secure, scalable, and well-governed digital capabilities across the organisation. In this role, you will support and evolve the Power BI platform, delivering reporting capabilities to thousands of users.

Your main responsibilities:

• Administer and continuously improve the Power BI platform to ensure it meets security, architecture, and governance requirements.

• Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards to support management, governance, and operational monitoring of the platform and its services.

• Configure and manage capacities, workspaces, and deployment pipelines to support a broad range of Power BI use cases.

• Implement and maintain telemetry, monitoring, and alerting capabilities to improve platform resilience and performance.

• Produce architecture and design documentation, working with cyber security teams to review and address security recommendations.

• Enable and support Power BI Copilot and AI capabilities in line with governance, security, and business readiness requirements.

• Provide technical guidance, design consultation, and issue resolution to support compliant platform use.

• Contribute to shaping and driving the Power BI strategy to support the wider data, reporting, and self-service vision.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 5+ years of experience administering and supporting enterprise reporting and analytics capabilities using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.

• Strong programming and scripting capability with PowerShell, Python, or similar tools for automation and platform management.

• Knowledge of security and governance controls, access models, and compliance requirements in enterprise environments.

• Architecture and design experience, including producing documentation and applying sound engineering judgement.

• Experience with monitoring, telemetry, and alerting, using operational data to improve platform resilience.

• Reporting and data visualisation experience, including building operational and governance dashboards.

• Knowledge of DevOps and release practices, including deployment pipelines and environment management.

• Fluent English—ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)

• Experience supporting or implementing self-service and automation capabilities to improve platform management and user experience.

• Experience working closely with cyber security teams on security recommendations and reviews.
