Unleash Innovation in Cloud DevOps — Transform Microservices into Scalable Powerhouses on GCP!
Krakow-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 remote days per week).
As a Senior GCP & Kubernetes DevOps Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading financial technology organization driving large-scale digital transformation within Global Markets Technology. You will support a major migration project involving over 100 microservices to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), focusing on Kubernetes, observability, and platform reliability. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape resilient, production-ready infrastructure while fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Your main responsibilities:
- Engineer and operate the target platform on GCP/GKE to support the migration of 100+ microservices.
- Partner with application delivery teams to onboard services onto Kubernetes, including deployment patterns, configuration, and operational readiness.
- Provide hands-on support deploying Java and Python microservices into Kubernetes (using manifests/Helm, config, secrets, scaling, health checks).
- Build and standardise CI/CD pipelines for containerised workloads, ensuring security and reliability.
- Implement observability solutions: metrics, logs, distributed tracing (preferably Grafana stack), dashboards, alerting, and SLO reporting.
- Drive platform reliability and support: incident management, root cause analysis, and preventative enhancements.
- Identify and address technical debt; propose platform improvements to reduce operational toil and enhance developer experience.
- Ensure solutions comply with security controls, operational guidelines, and technology standards.
- Collaborate effectively within a global, dispersed team, sharing knowledge and best practices.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes, ideally GKE, including deployment, ingress, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience migrating or operating microservices platforms at scale.
- Strong expertise supporting Java and Python microservices within Kubernetes environments.
- In-depth knowledge of monitoring, observability, and tracing tools, preferably Grafana stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Loki, Tempo).
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for containerised applications.
- Skills in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and automated environment provisioning.
- A solid production mindset: reliability, incident response, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively with local and global teams, with excellent written and spoken English.
- A delivery-driven and pragmatic approach, balancing speed, control, and risk management.
- Open-minded, eager to learn, and capable of guiding colleagues as needed.
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience with GCP services supporting GKE (IAM, VPC, Cloud Logging/Monitoring, Artifact Registry).
- Helm chart development and standardisation across teams.
- Service mesh experience (Istio) and ingress patterns.
- Knowledge of security tooling (container scanning, policy-as-code, workload identity).
- Previous experience with cloud migration or platform engineering projects.
- Familiarity with Javascript/Vue.
Language Required for the role:
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Eligibility for the role:
- Only candidates with an existing legal right to work in the European Union will be considered for this role.
