Senior Full Stack Engineer

Kraków - based opportunity with hybrid work model (2 days/week in the office).

As a Tech Lead Backend you will be working for our client, a global financial institution driving large-scale digital transformation across its banking platforms. You will be leading the backend development of complex systems, ensuring robust architecture, high-quality code, and scalable solutions. In this role, you will be mentoring engineers, facilitating technical decision-making, and promoting best practices such as TDD, Clean Code, and SOLID principles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient, secure, and observable services while leveraging modern technologies, cloud infrastructure, and microservices architectures to meet strategic business goals.

Your main responsibilities:

• Leading backend development and guiding the technical team

• Designing system architectures including modular monoliths and microservices

• Implementing clean code practices and TDD principles

• Developing APIs and ensuring database consistency (RDBMS and NoSQL)

• Reviewing code and documenting technical decisions (ADRs/EDRs)

• Facilitating technical decision-making and prioritising tasks effectively

• Ensuring CI/CD, observability, resilience, scalability, and security standards

• Removing blockers and enabling team autonomy and accountability

• Mentoring and coaching engineers while fostering a high-trust culture

• Tracking goals, OKRs, and improving software delivery metrics (DORA)

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering

• Proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale systems

• Strong knowledge of Java 17/21 and Spring Boot 3.x

• Experience with databases, RDBMS and NoSQL, transactions, and replication

• Solid understanding of software design principles (SOLID, TDD, Clean Code)

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and container orchestration

• Strong communication and collaboration skills with diverse stakeholders

• Results-oriented mindset with focus on metrics and KPIs

• Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Familiarity with frontend technologies (React, JavaScript, NPM)

• Intermediate SRE/DevOps knowledge including Jenkins, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker
