Senior Full Stack Engineer

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer – Payment Modernization, you will be working for our client, a global leader in financial services dedicated to transforming payment processing technologies. You will help deliver HSBC’s Future State Architecture for payments, introducing lean, reusable engines that lay the foundation for next-generation financial products. Your main responsibilities:

• Deliver expert-level engineering solutions for the Future State Architecture to enable advanced payment processing capabilities.

• Develop high-quality, robust code ensuring quality gates are surpassed and comprehensive test scripts are included.

• Focus on creating highly available and resilient software and services to meet demanding operational standards.

• Support the modernization of payment systems, leveraging cloud-based technologies to enhance agility and performance.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement new payment features and capabilities.

• Partner with DevOps teams to streamline automated infrastructure delivery, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices.

• Lead technical analysis, problem solving, and architectural decisions, providing guidance to teams and management.

• Ensure compliance with security standards, data privacy regulations, and industry best practices within the latest tools and technologies.

• Maintain awareness of evolving industry trends, including microservices, containerization, cloud infrastructure, and security protocols.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in back-end development, API engineering, or related fields.

• Proven expertise in designing APIs and creating architectural artifacts like data models and low-level designs.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Java, along with Go and Rust is a strong plus.

• Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, Spring Boot, and distributed system design.

• Strong experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus.

• Proficiency in cloud environments, particularly in deployment, network configuration, security, and cost optimization.

• Solid understanding of infrastructure: Linux OS, networking, storage, and firewall configurations.

• Expertise in SQL and distributed database systems.

• Previous experience within a financial institution or payments industry.

• Ability to work independently, think innovatively, and lead technically complex initiatives.

• Excellent communication skills in English (fluent level) and the capacity to influence and negotiate effectively.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Knowledge of cyber security and data privacy regulations relevant to payments.

• Experience mentoring or coaching junior engineers.
