Senior Data Engineer – Cloud & ETL Platforms

Kraków-based opportunity with a hybrid work model (3 days/week remote, 2 days/week in the office).

As a Senior Data Engineer – Cloud & ETL Platforms, you will be working for our client, a leading global financial institution currently undertaking a large-scale data modernization project in the cloud. You will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of state-of-the-art data pipelines that enable critical business insights. This role offers a unique chance to be at the forefront of data transformation, impacting strategic decision-making across regions.

Your main responsibilities:

• Designing and developing scalable ETL pipelines and data workflows

• Building and maintaining data models supporting analytical and reporting needs

• Implementing and managing data orchestration using Airflow and Cloud Composer

• Ensuring data quality and consistency through automated validation processes

• Developing and optimizing SQL queries for performance and efficiency

• Collaborating with data architects and analysts on schema and data mart design

• Operating and iterating on a cloud-based data platform within GCP

• Integrating real-time data streams utilizing tools such as Kafka

• Deploying data solutions via CI/CD pipelines in a DevOps environment

• Communicating progress and technical challenges with global stakeholders

  
  

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• At least 7 years of professional experience in SQL development and data engineering

• Proven expertise in ETL processes within cloud environments

• Strong hands-on experience with GCP and BigQuery

• Proficiency with data build tools like DBT

• Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Cloud Composer

• Solid understanding of data modeling and schema design

• Knowledge of data streaming technologies such as Kafka

• Familiarity with BI tools, mainly Looker Studio

• Experience with automated data quality frameworks

• Background working in Agile and DevOps environments

  
  

It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)

• Experience building or operating a cloud data platform

• Proficiency in Python, Git, and Shell scripting

• Knowledge of data architecture and data mart design

• Familiarity with CI/CD practices

• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset

• Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams
