As a GCP Data ETL Pipeline Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global banking and financial services organization. The company is focused on providing tailored financial solutions for institutional clients worldwide. The role will involve developing, testing, deploying, and optimizing data warehouse solutions and data models in Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will be part of a large transformation project aimed at providing critical insights and metrics to support the business' operations, ensuring smooth, secure, and compliant data processes.
Your main responsibilities:
- Designing, building, testing, and deploying Google Cloud data models and transformations in BigQuery
- Developing data warehouse solutions and pipelines following abstraction and database refactoring best practices
- Protecting solutions with appropriate security models, including data encryption and authentication mechanisms
- Refining and implementing business and technical requirements, ensuring alignment with project goals
- Collaborating in the refinement of User Stories, Epics, and Backlogs in Jira
- Managing code artifacts and CI/CD using tools like Git, Jenkins, and Google Secrets Manager
- Delivering non-functional requirements, adhering to IT standards, and ensuring scalability and reliability
- Writing well-commented, maintainable, and self-documenting code
- Fixing defects and enhancing the code during development and after deployment
- Handover knowledge, code, and support responsibilities to the support team post-deployment
You're ideal for this role if you have:
- Expertise in database design, development, and administration, especially in relational and dimensional models
- Solid experience with GCP, cloud databases, and data warehouses
- Advanced knowledge of SQL/T-SQL and optimization of database components
- Proficiency in devops tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Github, Puppet, Chef etc.
- Understanding of IT methodologies like Agile, Scrum, and DevOps
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent English
- A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements
- A collaborative team spirit with strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- A proactive attitude toward learning new technologies and skills independently
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience with application monitoring and production support
- Knowledge of IT security and application development best practices
- Familiarity with the nature of investment banking products and their lifecycle
- Experience working in a global team with diverse cultures
- An understanding of data vault methodologies
