Kraków-based opportunity with a hybrid work model (2 days/week in the office).

As a Data Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global financial services leader developing cutting-edge data solutions to support complex business operations. You will be contributing to the creation and maintenance of large-scale data processing applications, focusing on performance optimization and reliability. The role involves working within a dynamic Agile environment, where you will be collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, supporting multiple use cases, and playing a critical role in enabling efficient data-driven decision-making. This opportunity allows you to enhance your expertise while driving innovation in a fast-paced and challenging setting.

Your main responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining large-scale data processing applications

• Creating new features and enhancing existing ones within the data platform

• Working with Apache Spark to design ETL pipelines and perform data transformations

• Optimizing data processing workflows for performance and scalability

• Assisting in root cause analysis of production issues

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment

• Applying modern development tools and DevOps practices to streamline delivery

• Implementing and maintaining testing practices for robust data solutions

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• Strong communication skills, translating technical concepts into non-technical language

• At least 3 years of hands-on industry experience in a data engineering role

• Proven experience with Apache Spark and Scala for data processing and optimization

• Expertise in building and deploying production-level data batch systems

• Experience using Git, Gradle, Nexus or similar development tooling

• Familiarity with automation and DevOps practices such as Jenkins and Docker

• Ability to work effectively in Agile development environments

• Knowledge of testing frameworks such as ScalaTest and writing different types of tests

• Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to rapidly changing client environments

• Strong problem-solving skills to support debugging and troubleshooting efforts

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Quantexa Data Engineering Certification

• Experience with managed services such as AWS EKS or Azure EKS

• Knowledge of Angular for front-end integration

• Experience with microservices, OCP, or Kubernetes
