Data Engineer with Scala

IMG ARENA is maximizing the value of the rich variety of sports data available through data enrichment, sports and excitement analytics and by building proprietary metrics.

Data Engineer

About the role

As a Data Engineer you will be part of an agile Data Engineering and Data Science team (DataOps) collaborating with people across the business, from product development teams to business stakeholders, with the responsibility of championing the highest standards of storage, quality, analysis and democratization of both sports and product data. You will implement new products and features according to their acceptance criteria, as well as maintaining and improving the existing features/codebase. You will work in an international environment where communication in English is on daily basis.

This role will evolve with the maturity of the data platform and the product offerings we provide.

Your responsibilities

- Building and maintaining data processing pipelines both streaming and batch

- Managing and maintaining standards for Data Analysis tools used across the organization

- Working on data quality, latency and accuracy

- Contributing to future design/architecture solutions that directly impact the business.

Our requirements

- Functional programming (preferred Scala; Phyton/Java optional)

- Large-scale data manipulation and processing (e.g. SQL/BigQuery/Spark/Pandas)

- Real-time analytics databases (e.g. Apache Druid)

- Data analysis, reporting and visualization (e.g. Superset/Tableau/PowerBI/Matplotlib)

- Very good command of spoken and written English

- Analytical mind with problem-solving skills

- Approachable and a proficient communicator across both technical and non-technical organizational levels

- Passion for sport is a bonus!

Nice to have

- Cloud data platform experience (GCP/AWS/Azure)

- Streaming applications (e.g. Akka/ZIO, Spark Streaming, Kafka Streams)

- Experience with configuration management (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes).
