Your team
We are the Web Trading team, situated within the UK division. Our mission sits at the heart of IG’s core business, centered on delivering high-quality UI experiences enabling our customers to place & manage trades with clarity, confidence & ease. You will work collaboratively in a cross-functional team, actively participate in modern engineering practices, and help shape the future direction of our modern trading platforms.
Your role in the Team's Success
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be working closely with other engineers on the front-end & middleware layer as well as design to refine & maintain IG's web trading platforms. Building on performant, low-latency front-end applications, you’ll be responsible for ensuring your code serves IG’s clients in the best possible way. You’ll be well-versed in JavaScript, utilising SPA frameworks such as React & Ember.js, and will be passionate about ensuring quality and driving modern web industry practices. The right candidate will also be comfortable contributing to a large code base, iterating on improvements to build pipelines & AWS infrastructure.
What you'll do
Develop responsive cross-platform interfaces built using React & Ember.js
Consolidate IG's Front-end technology in line with industry standards
Write automated tests (performance, unit, integration, acceptance & end-to-end)
Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to define, design, and push new front-end solutions
Periodically take part in the support rota that considers being available out of working hours
Take part in regular pair programming & code reviews to support engineers
Promote knowledge sharing within and beyond the team
Actively engage in the agile development process leading development on key initiatives
Develop & maintain existing AWS & GitLab pipeline infrastructure
What you'll need for this role
Key Qualification Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of JavaScript, HTML & CSS
Minimum of 8+ years of commercial experience in software delivery
Relevant qualification to match
Track record of delivering low-latency, highly performant web applications
Experience in coaching/guiding others in engineering best practices
Strong performance & architecture-based mindset
Excellent communication skills and a regular key discussion maker in large teams
Experience with AWS & Terraform & GitLab Pipeline configuration
Great attention to detail, comfortable with regularly reviewing pull requests
Comfortable pair programming guiding less experienced engineers
Desirable:
Experience with Ember.js (or a willingness to learn)
Full-stack experience with the ability to navigate and update existing middleware to unblock front-end development
Experience with Java, Spring & Lambda
A passion for the trading & investing space
