About hyperexponential (hx)
At hyperexponential, we're building the AI-powered platform that enables the world's most critical decisions in a $7 trillion industry, which risks to take, and how to price them. These are the decisions that shape real-world outcomes: whether rockets successfully launch into space, autonomous vehicles make it to market, or communities recover after major storms.
Until now, insurance has been making billion-dollar decisions using outdated tools. We're changing that. Our platform brings together data, AI, and human expertise to give insurers the fastest path from submission to decision - helping them move faster, act smarter, and take on more risk with confidence.
Backed by a16z, Highland Europe, and Battery Ventures, we're scaling globally - already trusted by nearly 50 of the world's largest insurers, with zero churn and billions in premiums flowing through hx.
What began as a single product in one market has rapidly evolved into a multi-product, multi-territory platform powering every stage of pricing and underwriting. AI is at the core of what we do - from building the world's first domain-specific AI peer programmer for insurance (think GitHub Copilot with a PhD in actuarial science) to shaping agentic workflows that reinvent how this industry operates.
What makes hx different is the people who build it. Here, impact isn't tied to title or tenure; it's defined by the challenges you take on and the discipline you bring. Surrounded by peers who stretch you, you'll do the best, hardest work of your life in a company engineered to endure.
If that sounds like you, join us in building what comes next.
About the Engineering team
At hx, engineering is central to delivering on our mission of transforming the insurance industry with technology. Our engineers build hx Renew, a modern SaaS platform that allows insurers to model risk and price policies faster, smarter, and more flexibly. By focusing on usability, scalability, and resilience, we’re reshaping how insurers operate.
Our product teams are structured cross-functionally, bringing together frontend and backend engineers, designers, and product managers. This allows engineers to play a hands-on role in shaping features end-to-end, ensuring that technical and user considerations are built into every decision.
As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will own the delivery of UI features across hx Renew’s workflow and admin management domains. You will serve as the team’s trusted expert on frontend matters, while also contributing to hx’s shared design system and component library. In addition to hands-on engineering, you will mentor peers, uphold high standards, and shape best practices across the wider frontend community.
What you’ll be doing
Designing, building, and shipping workflow-related UI features in hx Renew, ensuring interfaces are reliable, accessible, and consistent with hx’s design system.
Translating Figma designs into production-ready React components using shadcn and tailwindcss, resulting in high-quality and user-friendly interfaces.
Collaborating with backend engineers and product managers to clarify requirements, shaping solutions that make complex workflows simpler for end users.
Extending hx’s shared component library and design tokens to improve scalability and consistency across multiple product teams.
Writing and maintaining unit and integration tests, improving frontend reliability and ensuring a robust CI/CD pipeline.
Contributing to the wider frontend engineering community at hx by sharing knowledge, conducting reviews, and championing standards that raise code quality.
What you’ll need to have done
Delivered complex multi-page React applications in production, demonstrating proficiency in building scalable SPAs with TypeScript and modern frontend tooling.
Built and maintained reusable component libraries or design systems, ensuring adherence to accessibility standards and visual consistency.
Implemented UI features with rich business logic and API integrations that improved usability and performance for end users.
Improved system reliability by introducing or enhancing automated test suites (unit, component, and integration) and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
Worked effectively in a cross-functional product team, collaborating with designers, backend engineers, and product managers to deliver impactful features.
Demonstrated ownership and adaptability by driving improvements in frontend practices, whether through documentation, peer learning, or community engagement.
You’re unlikely to thrive here if
You prefer focusing only on implementation without engaging in cross-functional problem-solving.
You are uncomfortable mentoring or supporting the growth of peers and prefer to work independently.
You avoid contributing to shared standards or are resistant to learning from a distributed engineering community.
If reading our Culture Document leaves you feeling neutral rather than energised, hx may not be the place where you'll do your best work. We're building something that asks for commitment and conviction, and we want you to feel excited by the opportunity to grow with us.
