HSBC Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) is an emerging markets-led and financing-focused business that provides tailored financial solutions to major government, corporate and institutional clients worldwide. The role is within CIB IT - a department of HSBC Technology Services (HTS) - providing IT application development and support services to Business and IT teams within HSBC CIB.


In particular, the HTS DCS Team falls under the CIB Equities & Cross - Asset Financing IT function, providing 24*7 development, enhancement, and support for several components.

What you’ll do

  • Design and maintain cloud infrastructure frameworks, modules, and base assets (e.g., Docker images, VMs).

  • Drive architectural and technical decisions related to infrastructure and build systems.

  • Improve and optimize CI/CD pipelines and operational workflows.

  • Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging infrastructure.

  • Build and enhance internal tooling to support automation and efficiency.

  • Support development teams and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) with infrastructure needs.

  • Perform and support role swap and backup recovery testing.

  • Ensure infrastructure components are secure, up-to-date, and aligned with best practices.


What you need to have to succeed in this role

  • 5+ years in DevOps with a strong foundation in software development, Linux/Unix systems, and a passion for technology and programming.

  • Proficient with Docker/Podman, Terraform, Ansible (incl. Ansible Tower), Git, and Kubernetes (GKE is a strong plus).

  • Skilled in Python and Bash; experienced in CI/CD pipelines, TeamCity, and GitOps practices.

  • Hands-on experience with ELK stack, Grafana, Prometheus, and InfluxDB.

  • Familiar with infrastructure as code, secret management, and service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Nomad).

  • Proven track record of delivering end-to-end projects in Agile/DevSecOps environments, including regulated industries.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, self-driven learner, and capable of managing competing priorities.

  • Willingness to provide occasional after-hours support and adapt to evolving technical and business needs.


Nice to  Have

  • Experience with GitOps pipeline implementation and related tooling.

  • Familiarity with highly regulated environments (e.g., finance, healthcare, government).

  • Hands-on experience with MongoDB and messaging systems (e.g., MQ, Pub/Sub).

  • Exposure to service mesh technologies like Istio or Nomad.

  • Knowledge of secret management solutions (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager).

  • Experience working with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) in production environments.

  • Understanding of DevSecOps practices and security automation.
