Global Defense Engineering is responsible for fielding solutions that help defend HSBC against a wide range of threats to the business as well as its customers, clients, partners, and staff. The team works in concert, with partner teams across HSBC, to implement novel defensive capabilities that are effective and adaptable against a constantly evolving threat landscape. The function operates under the vision: “Enabling HSBC to be safely successful everywhere the Firm chooses to do business”.
The Head of Network Security Baselines is responsible for leading Network Security capabilities, across HSBC. The role requires a highly skilled leader who can drive and influence cross-functional teams, including Architecture, Engineering and Operations, to implement and maintain a robust and secure operation of the above capabilities. With a small direct team, the successful candidate will leverage their deep technical experience and leadership skills to ensure that the capability strategies are executed effectively and to the highest standards.
What you’ll do
- Develop the Global Defense function, engaging with colleagues across the Cybersecurity and other IT functions to drive and deliver sustainable operational plans in line with department strategy.
- Drive business performance, clear thinking and utilises experience whilst under pressure.
- Lead strategically significant global and/or high value stakeholder relationships.
- Support the development of the Global Defence – Cybrsecurity Engineering and Operations Team.
- Build plans and budgets which identify value and cost reduction opportunities.
- Implements IT best practice in risk policies and governance frameworks in area of responsibility.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Demonstrated leadership experience with running a team of up to 20 individuals and large, complex programmes with deeply technical global expert teams.
- A background in information systems, technology, architecture, band service delivery of defense-in-depth capabilities.
- Excellent understanding of cybersecurity principles, global financial services business models, as well as regional compliance standards, relevant local regulations, and applicable laws.
- Experienced in owning a capability, technology, or platform together with the responsibilities associated
- Deep SME knowledge of network security, including capabilities aligned typically to firewalls and other networking technologies that control traffic flow by policy.
- Understanding and knowledge of common industry cyber security frameworks, standards, and methodologies, including OWASP, ISO2700x series, PCI DSS, GLBA, GDPR, Global data security and privacy acts, FFIEC guidelines, CIS and NIST standards.
- Experience working within Cloud, SaaS and emerging cloud use-cases for web/mobile and enterprise companies.
- Specific background knowledge cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platforms and Microsoft Azure.
