    Global Defense Engineering is responsible for fielding solutions that help defend HSBC against a wide range of threats to the business as well as its customers, clients, partners, and staff. The team works in concert, with partner teams across HSBC, to implement novel defensive capabilities that are effective and adaptable against a constantly evolving threat landscape.  



    What you’ll do

    • Defines and maintains Capability Strategy, supported by Enterprise Architecture, Security Architecture and Control Owners, in response to business strategies, regulator expectations, technology and practice advancement, best practice and threat actor evolution.
    • Maintains strategic capability roadmap. 
    • Ensures success with delivery partners (in alignment with support functions). Runs / drives respective Delivery forum, QBRs, SteerCos and Capability PODs. 
    • Maintains and prioritises a capability backlog based on objectives and value released to identify what teams work on next. Supports the prioritisation of backlogs from supporting technology and operations/service teams. 
    • Lead definition of scope and prioritisation of user stories to be developed including acceptance criteria/definition of done.
    • Leads vendor relationships with owned technologies.
    • Interacts with stakeholders across the organisation to understand their security needs and expectations. 
    • Evaluate and adoption of new technologies and practices which may impact the capability's needs and/or control environment.
    • Monitors and communicates progress of capability performance through agreed indicators and metrics.
    • Close working with Control Owners: Oversees Control Owner activity from a technical point-of-view, e.g. accurate assessment of control defect severities. 



    What you need to have to succeed in this role

    • A background in information systems, technology, architecture, design, and service delivery of defense-in-depth capabilities.   
    • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience of understanding and meeting the needs of multiple stakeholders.
    • An ability to communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences, orally and in writing, in an easily understood, authoritative and actionable manner.
    • Experience at C level / Senior management positions
    • Understanding and knowledge of common industry cyber security frameworks, standards and methodologies
    • Experience working within Cloud, SaaS and emerging cloud use-cases for web/mobile and enterprise companies.
    • Expertise and Experience in design and delivery of email, collaboration, Data Classification, Data Encryption, Data Discovery, DLP solutions and technologies
    • Strong commercial background and knowledge of cybersecurity offerings
    • Experienced in owning a capability, technology or platform together with the responsibilities associated with running a team of up to 20 individuals.
    • Proven track record of successfully developing, delivery and implementing large scale global data protection strategies & programmes.
    • Excellent understanding of cybersecurity principles, global financial services business models, as well as regional compliance standards, relevant local regulations, and applicable laws.
