Backend Engineer (Java)

For our client who is partnering with a leading programmatic media company, specialising in ingesting large volumes of data, modeling insights, and offering a range of products and services across Media, Analytics, and Technology. Well-known brands such as Walmart, Barclaycard, and Ford are among their clients.

The company has expanded to over 700 employees, with 15 global offices spanning four continents. With the imminent opening of a new office in Warsaw, we are seeking experienced Backend Engineers to join their expanding team.

A successful candidate will possess the skills, experience, and desire to champion the quality process at every step of the product development lifecycle. As part of the Polish team, you will closely work with cross-national teams all over the world.

Responsibilities:

• Own and drive business features into technical requirements.
• Design and develop backend modules and components.
• Hands-on with end-to-end development skills from design to deployment.
• Very good understanding of front-end processes and providing a helping hand to debug problems together.
• Work with peer developers in discussing requirements and implementation.
• Explore new technologies or frameworks and proactively share your learnings with the team.
• Promote software development best practices.
• Ensure that all deliverables adhere to world-class standards.
• Mentor and develop junior developers in the team.
• Understand product vision and prepare technical charters for the team.

Skills:

• 4-6 years of development experience working with Java, Spring Boot, ORM frameworks, Docker, Jenkins.
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Good understanding of multi-tier web applications and experience building REST APIs.
• Experience with AWS.
• Experience with relational databases like MySQL, Aurora, and RDS.
• Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
• Good understanding of column-based datastores.
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Knowledge of scalable service architecture.
• Experience with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, and Hive.
• Experience with cloud technologies, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, AWS services.
• Experience with Kubernetes and EC2.
