Position Overview

As the Senior Backend Engineer (AI), you will play a pivotal role in building scalable, fast and highly available API powering our proptech AI agentic system from the ground up. You are expected to take ownership of the key features from backend perspective, utilising your extensive knowledge of Python as well as your experience with generative AI and agentic systems.

This position is fully remote, though it requires periodic (e.g., quarterly) travel to London, alongside offsites in Poland. Ideal candidates will be proactive and eager to embrace challenges, possessing the autonomy to significantly influence product direction and oversee projects from inception through to launch.

You will

• Develop the robust, scalable, and high-performing backend for the AI system that consists of the API service and the AI engine.
• Perform prompt-engineering and develop AL/ML models that automate the process of finding, managing, and improving their homes.
• Collaborate closely with the team to design the technical solution that transforms visionary ideas into tangible value to millions of users.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, engage in technical discussions as well as design sessions, and ensure adherence to best development practices to uphold high standards of code quality and maintainability, that will co-create.
• Take initiative in problem-solving, proactively identifying and addressing potential setbacks throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in backend development, with expert-level proficiency in REST API development using Python, FastAPI, and Postgresql (or other relational databases).
• Experience in building and (preferably) productionizing agentic systems based on LLMs
• Experience and proficiency in developing cloud infrastructure, ideally on AWS.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment where rapid prototyping and iterative development are paramount.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead projects and interface directly with senior management.
• Fluent English with a minimum of B2+ level, enabling effective communication in a professional setting.
• The ability to navigate and develop in the AWS ecosystem is a strong plus.
• Experience with React and other frontend technologies is a plus.
