Junior Backend Engineer

We are seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to join our team and help build scalable, performant, and reliable backend systems that power our products. As a Junior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining server-side applications, APIs, and databases. You will work closely with our product managers, front-end developers, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet our customers' needs.

About You:

You are a highly motivated problem solver, eager to tackle complex coding and engineering challenges head-on. You prefer to take a proactive approach rather than a reactive one. You are ideally a recent graduate who has engaged in hobby projects or participated in hackathons, demonstrating your passion for coding and learning.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with NodeJS and Typescript, with a good grasp of their core concepts.
• Understanding of software design patterns and their practical applications.
• Basic knowledge of Rust.
• Experience working with relational databases like Postgres.
• Familiarity with message queuing systems such as RabbitMQ and caching systems such as Redis.
• Experience with integrating third-party APIs and building reliable systems.
• Basic understanding of serverless architectures and event-driven programming.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Familiarity with various algorithms and data structures.
• Basic understanding of blockchain technology or a keen interest in the field.

Good to Have:

• Relevant work experience and/or Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Computer Science
• Basic knowledge of cryptography and security best practices.
• Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and DynamoDB.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and development of scalable, performant, and reliable backend systems that power our products.
• Write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code using NodeJS, Typescript, Rust and other relevant technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement APIs, data models, and system architectures.
• Optimize and fine-tune database queries, caching, and message queuing systems to improve performance and reduce latency.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues, and provide timely and effective solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest backend technologies, frameworks, and libraries, and identify opportunities to improve our systems and processes.
• Learn quickly and take on increasing responsibilities, with opportunities for rapid promotion based on performance and skill development.
