Excited about nutrition, food as medicine and working with the latest AI tech to improve patient outcomes? Awesome. So are we.
We're looking for a senior backend engineer with deep experience in AI productization to lead the build-out of intelligent features in our precision nutrition app. You'll collaborate with the founding team and supervise integration of LLMs and AI Agents for personalized food scoring, plan generation, and symptom tracking. It’s an exciting opportunity to own the AI product and tech strategy, grow your career and work with some of the leading hospitals in the world.
You will own the AI stack end-to-end and should be comfortable designing secure backend services that tie multiple data sources together. A backend-heavy skill set is essential for this role.
Our company is a future unicorn led by two Polish founders who have now taken the company to the US. Our CEO refused hip surgery and recovered through nutrition, and our COO is a former competitive sports athlete. Apply if you are excited to join a startup backed by US venture capital investors. Both founders are Polish and excited to work with regional talent — future in-person meetups in Poland or nearby are likely!
Responsibilities:
Design and implement AI-based features, including:
Summarization of onboarding questionnaires
Natural language interface for meal plans
Feedback loop from symptoms to plan adjustments
Own the full AI stack and drive integration with the existing Golang/PostgreSQL/GraphQL infrastructure.
Work with a junior engineer on internal testing and FSE integration.
Ensure scalability, performance, and HIPAA-compliance readiness.
Define and evolve the AI tech stack, leveraging best-in-class tools.
Building and maintaining AI agents (e.g., RAG-based systems) working with an AI Research Lead
Requirements:
5+ years backend engineering experience, especially with Golang and API design.
Hands-on experience with LLM integration and AI Agent development (e.g., OpenAI, HuggingFace, LangChain).
Strong experience building and deploying secure systems.
Direct experience in healthtech or other regulated sectors is required.
Deep backend experience in systems integration, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
Systems thinking and product-driven engineering mindset.
Previous experience mentoring or leading teams.
Comfortable working with teams in the Texas and New York time zones (flexible hours available).
Passionate about advancing food as medicine and building a future unicorn. This is not a 9-5 job, we’re going full speed and we love it!
Bonus:
Strong preference for candidates with healthcare, nutrition, or digital therapeutics experience.
Knowledge of HIPAA, FHIR, or EMR systems.
Experience with food/nutrient databases.
