GCP Database Engineer

The client is a global agribusiness and food production company

Location: 1 day/month from the office in Warsaw

Rate: PLN 130-180/hour net + VAT

Type of employment: B2B contract

We are looking for a person (5/6 years experience) with knowledge of GCP, PostgreSQL, and SQL, as well as DBA knowledge in the field of performance optimization, query tuning, and data flow cost minimization in cloud solutions.

Stack:

- GCP services: BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Datastream, AlloyDB (nice to have)

- Database technologies: PostgreSQL

- Languages and tools: SQL, Bash scripts, Python (basics), Docker, Liquibase- Core database administrator skills: database design and modeling, performance optimization, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, security and IAM, ETL processes, high availability (HA)

Tasks

- Design, development, and maintenance of database solutions based on PostgreSQL and GCP services (AlloyDB, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Datastream)

- Advanced SQL query writing and optimization – execution plan analysis, query tuning, bottleneck elimination, performance improvement, and reduction of cloud data processing costs

- PostgreSQL administration: configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, indexing, parameterization, log analysis, storage optimization

- Designing data architecture and database models in accordance with best engineering practices

- Building and maintaining ETL/ELT processes in the GCP environment using SQL, Bash, and basic Python (without low-code tools)

- Creating and maintaining backup & recovery processes, disaster recovery plans, and high availability (HA) configurations

- Ensuring data security: IAM configuration, access control, encryption, compliance with security policies

- Automating administrative tasks using Bash, Docker, Liquibase, and other engineering tools

- Monitoring database environments, responding to incidents, and proactively preventing performance issues

- Collaborating with Data Engineering and Cloud Engineering teams to deliver scalable, stable, and efficient solutions.
