We are looking for a release manager to the project commissioned by the British post, Royal Mail Group. It’s another milestone for our growing relationship with this client (6 years and counting).
The project in question, consists of over 80k rugged handheld mobile devices plus the operating system and applications installed on those devices. In addition, there is currently user administration and reporting capability.
The devices are used to capture barcode scans, as items are progressed through the network. This includes when the item:
🔹 is initially collected,
🔹 is progressed through our network,
🔹 is delivered and handed over to the customer,
In addition to supporting these core operational processes, the device is also used for:
🔹 route optimisation,
🔹 taking safeplace images,
🔹 capturing driving license details,
🔹 tracking items in customer service points,
🔹 collecting GPS coordinates.
👉 Your responsibilities:
🔹 Work with product owners to update scope for each release,
🔹 Communicate key milestones to all teams – internal and external,
🔹 Periodical review of the plan with internal teams to ensure everyone is aligned to the plan and next release,
🔹 Communicate key milestones and deployment dates to project teams and Service Delivery and update regularly on progress,
🔹 Maintain release documentation (Confluence and any other tool) including necessary configuration for each release,
🔹 Work with project teams to define pilot sites, deployment plan, pilot and national rollout configuration (including feature flags),
🔹 Organize release walk-through calls (app demos / deployment plan, etc.),
🔹 Coordinate deployment calls,
🔹 Rollback plan and execution,
🔹 Update latest project info screenshot and provide to project teams.
👉 Our requirements:
🔹 Strong technical proficiency with an understanding of software development and deployment processes
🔹 In-depth knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related DevOps practices,
🔹 Hands-on experience with release management for mobile applications (iOS/Android),
🔹 Comprehensive understanding of release processes, including planning, coordination, and execution,
🔹 Ability to design and implement release workflows and processes from the ground up,
🔹 Familiarity with DevOps tools and platforms (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar),
🔹 Effective problem-solving skills to identify bottlenecks and improve release pipelines,
🔹 Experience with version control systems and branching strategies (e.g., Git),
🔹 Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple releases simultaneously,
🔹 Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work with development, QA, and operations teams,
🔹 Experience working in regulated environments or with organizations like Royal Mail is a plus,
🔹 Great knowledge of English - C1 level.
