We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Lead / Team Lead to lead the Poland part of our team; this team is involved in the development and delivery of the Developer Metrics data warehouse.
This project involves building and maintaining robust data pipelines using SQL and Google’s MapReduce, designing and implementing new metrics, expanding and building dashboards, and integrating these metrics into our dashboards; and managing frequent software releases to our cloud-hosted servers.
You will be responsible for project planning, coordination with our US-based engineering team, and a significant portion of hands-on technical work.
- Project Planning & Execution (20% - 30%)
- Understand and help clarify development requirements, call out dependencies and risks.
- Provide the execution plan to implement those requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the US-based engineering team to define project scope, priorities, and technical requirements.
- Oversee the execution of project tasks, ensuring timely completion, high quality code, and quality assurance.
- Coordinate with the engineering team members in Poland (many of whom are remote), providing technical guidance and support. Highlight and call out risks and challenges as they arise.
- Technical Contribution (70-80%)
- Participating in design and code reviews
- Developing SQL queries and Flume pipelines.
- Participate in rotation for Data Warehouse software releases.
- Designing and implementing new metrics.
- Integrating metrics into existing dashboards.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Effectively communicate project status, progress, and challenges to both the US-based engineering team and the Poland engineering team.
- Foster strong collaboration and communication between teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders.
- Leadership & Mentorship:
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the remote engineering team.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- 2+ years of experience in technical program management in a lead role for a small to midsize dev team
- Proven experience in leading remote teams and coordinating projects across different time zones.
- Experience in working iteratively (Agile methodologies/scrumming)
- Good communication skills.
