Job description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • Experience working collaboratively on projects and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing web applications, Android apps, or native desktop applications.
  • Experience developing operating systems and system software.
  • Understanding of operating system development, the web and Android development landscape and a passion for driving innovation.

In this role, you will enable third-party developers to build successful applications for ChromeOS that take full advantage of Google's AI capabilities and ChromeOS’s unique and powerful features.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the design and implementation of major components of the application platform and work closely with less experienced engineers to help them contribute. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to prioritize, plan and scope these projects and to develop product strategy and roadmap.
  • Design and implement platform foundations including the components required to build, install, test, run, configure and monitor applications on ChromeOS.
  • Design, implement, and extend web APIs to power new use cases (e.g., access to system services, background mode, AI acceleration, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the technical lead manager and other senior team members as a tech lead, helping to mentor, grow, and develop the team.
