With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

BigQuery is a managed, Artificial Intelligence (AI) ready data analytics platform that helps Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers maximize value from their data and is designed to be multi-engine, multi-format, and multi-cloud.

The Data Lineage team develops automated lineage harvesting and an Application programming interface (API) and User Interface (UI) to track and visualize the transformations on data assets that customers host in BigQuery and other locations. Lineage is a key enabler for business users and data engineers to discover relevant data assets, resolve data incidents, forecast the impact of changes, and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (regarding Machine Learning models).

Responsibilities

• Manage people, and become a partner by helping the team members career development journeys. 
• Build, sustain, and grow relationships with a wide variety of collaborators. Help other teams accomplish their goals, and you enlist other teams to help you accomplish goals.
• Influence the technical architecture of the codebases that Google owns. Optimize technical systems and processes to handle a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous future.
• Guide the team to be adaptable to the inevitable changes in the Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) mid-cycle.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working collaboratively with various partner teams such as product managers, UX designers, UX researchers, and other engineering teams.
• Experience productionizing a service and being on call.
• Engineering management experience that involves direct reports.
• Experience working with an enterprise-focused software ecosystem (e.g., other cloud providers, non-cloud enterprise software vendors, Google Ads).
