    Job description

We’re a legendary gaming platform where passion for games meets cutting-edge technology and an amazing community. Every month, millions of gamers visit GOG to explore a catalog of over 10,000 titles – from cult classics to the hottest indie, AA, and AAA hits. We generate $50M in annual revenue, but for us, it’s not just about numbers – it’s about keeping the spirit of gaming alive for generations.

Through our Preservation Program, we work tirelessly to bring classic games back to life, making them accessible and fully playable on modern systems. We believe that no great game should ever be forgotten.

As part of the CD PROJEKT Group (creators of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series), we’re on a mission to make games live forever. If you’re a gamer at heart and want to shape the future of digital gaming, come join us!

This role of Publishing Technical Manager is not only about being a leader, but also about being a technical mentor for the junior team members, as well as a partner in conversation for the senior ones. You will take charge of two crucial areas at GOG - Build Production (QA, automation and a bit of infrastructure) and Technical Production (reverse engineering for games and preparing inhouse builds for the upcoming releases). Together it’s around 9 people. Both teams are a part of Publishing - a key department that is as close to the GOG mission as it gets!

You don’t have to be an expert in any of those fields in particular, though you have to know your way around technology and be a great communicator, a creative person and a team player. If you want to know a bit more about what we do, take a look here and here. Join our Team and help us make games live forever!

    Responsibilities:

    • To connect the team to GOG’s strategy via goals, metrics, leading by example and promoting company’s values and behaviors
    • To parse and clearly communicate high-level expectations towards the team
    • To set clear goals and expectations towards the team as a whole and towards individuals
    • To collaborate with other leaders on the initiatives leading to the improvement of all GOG products
    • To co-create and be responsible for implementation of the strategic plan for the team
    • To make sure that there are emergency protocols in place for the key services/processes
    • To address the bus factor for key positions/people/skills/services
    • To manage knowledge transfer within the team
    • To serve as a mentor in regards to the development/career path of team members
    • To look after the team’s well being and level of motivation
    • To drive initiatives that improve the way we do things within the team/at GOG
    • To promote the culture of feedback
    • 50% of the time spent on technical work:
    • Reverse engineering of games (majority of technical work)
    • Supporting process automation
    • Supporting tools development

    Competences:

    • Prior experience with some of the following (the more, the better):
    • Reverse engineering of software/games,
    • Quality Assurance (software related),
    • Low level programming,
    • Object-oriented programming,

    • Great communication skills and experience in cross-team collaborations,
    • Positive attitude with the focus on future and finding solutions,
    • Experience with leading a team,
    • Experience in working with JIRA,
    • An inherent love for video games and PC gaming culture will be a huge plus.
