Data Scientist (Ontology / Knowledge Graphs)

The role

We’re looking for an Ontology Specialist who will help us structure and connect complex data using ontologies and knowledge graphs. If you enjoy bridging AI with semantic technologies, shaping data meaning, and making information more useful – this role is for you.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain domain ontologies to support data integration and knowledge representation.

• Collaborate with the team to ensure semantic consistency across systems.

• Define taxonomies, vocabularies, and metadata standards to improve data discoverability and interoperability.

• Work with stakeholders to capture business/domain concepts and translate them into formal ontological models.

• Support AI/ML projects by providing structured knowledge bases that enhance reasoning, search, and model performance.

• Document and communicate ontology structures and best practices to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in ontology engineering, knowledge representation, or semantic technologies.

• Experience with Python.

• Strong understanding of semantic web standards (RDF, OWL, SPARQL).

• Familiarity with ontology management tools (e.g., Protégé, TopBraid Composer, or similar).

• Experience with graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, Stardog) is a plus.

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate domain expertise into formal models.

• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

• Good communication skills – able to explain complex semantic concepts clearly.

• Comfortable working in a bilingual environment (Polish B2+, English B2+).
