Senior Python Developer

Taking technology to the next level. We are involved in exciting projects for well-known providers and developers of IT solutions and integrate IT systems into our customers' everyday business lives. We create new IT infrastructures or optimise existing solutions. This time it is an early stage project aimed at building a power management tool designed to enable tracking revenue and risk over our UK based client's portfolio of renewable assets.

Your area of responsibility

• Work closely with the product team to implement the vision for the power management product
• Design & build a highly performant and scalable back-end system written in Python
• Collaborate with Design/Product Teams to ensure business requirements can be met
• Collaborate with Data Platform Lead to ensure requirements of wider digital platform can be met
• Work with quant researchers to integrate modelling capabilities into the back end
• Provide technical expertise and direction
• Mentor highly talented junior colleagues in a technical capacity
• Documentation of back end systems
• Database management

Your profile

Must have:

• Fluent communication in English
• Ability to work as part of a broader development team and effectively collaborate with others
• Proven experience in building the back end of complex applications in Python
• Experience working with FastAPI, Polars, Numpy/Pandas
• Experience in Web API design and development using REST principles
• Proven experience of designing and implementing scalable, maintainable and secure systems on Azure
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL Databases - ability to lead data engineering workstreams and provide technical peer review of existing data models
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes

Nice to have:

• Solid understanding of CI/CD principles, Azure DevOps, agile ways of working - Scrum
• Understanding of Cloud Security Principles and best practices in Azure
• Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Interest in developing performant architecture for new quantitative / trading systems
