Kafka Engineer

What you will be doing:

• In this role, you may work with Kafka components such as brokers, Zookeeper, Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, KSQL, REST Proxy, and Kafka Control Center — but specific experience with all of them is not mandatory

• Handle Kafka Connect configurations with Schema Registry in high-throughput environments

• Administer Kafka clusters, including provisioning, managing access lists, Kerberos and SSL setup

• Work hands-on with Kafka connectors such as MQ, Elasticsearch, JDBC, File Stream, JMS source connectors, and customize connectors using Kafka APIs

• Create Kafka topics, set up redundancy clusters, deploy monitoring and alerting tools, and develop stubs for producers, consumers, and consumer groups to support multi-language application onboarding

• Perform root cause analysis for production incidents, document findings, and implement proactive improvements to increase system reliability

• Automate repetitive tasks through scripting and automation tools, perform performance benchmarking and tuning of Kafka clusters

  
  

Your expertise:

• Deep knowledge of Kafka architecture and cluster maintenance best practices

• Experience working in infrastructure-as-code environments with an automation-first mindset

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with engineers and stakeholders

  
  

Technologies you’ll work with:

• Messaging platforms: Apache Kafka, Confluent Kafka

• DevOps tools: GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins

• Automation frameworks: Ansible, Puppet, or equivalents
