Are you passionate about building resilient, high-performance middleware systems? Join us as a Middleware Engineer and take the lead in shaping the future of our Kafka and Fax platforms across diverse environments—from on-prem Linux to OpenShift and Azure.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Kafka platform (Linux, OpenShift, Azure) and Fax platform (Windows).

  • Become the go-to expert on our Fax solution, powered by Intercope’s MessagePlus Open.

  • Partner with application teams to design and implement robust Kafka configurations.

  • Deliver expert-level 3rd line support for Kafka and Fax, including both daytime and overnight coverage.

  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing enhancements to our Kafka infrastructure.

  • Share your knowledge—mentor peers and champion best practices across teams.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, shape roadmaps, and guide implementation strategies.

  • Create and promote guidelines for Kafka service excellence.

  • Participate in watch duty rotation, ensuring reliable 2nd and 3rd level support for production services.

What You Bring

Technical Expertise:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Kafka across on-prem, Azure Event Hub, and Confluent Cloud.

  • Deep knowledge of middleware on Linux, Windows, and Azure platforms.

  • Proficiency in scripting with Ansible/Tower and Python.

  • Strong grasp of Kafka-related security, networking, availability, and performance.

  • Experience with containerization (OpenShift), Azure integration, and Terraform.

Soft Skills:

  • Eagerness to learn and share knowledge.

  • Comfort navigating complexity and ambiguity.

  • A client-first mindset with a commitment to quality.

  • Excellent communication skills in English.

  • Agile/Scrum team experience and a collaborative spirit.
