    Job description

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a skilled Environment Tester to join our dynamic GDC DES Environment Squad. Environment testing aims to uncover bugs, vulnerabilities, or performance issues before the application is fully deployed. Additionally, they allow for incremental testing to identify problems before further development takes place.

     Configuring a test environment involves several key components. These components include:

    • The front-end environment
    • The database server
    • The operating system, including server operating systems
    • A browser
    • Networking software (and potentially hardware)
    • Test data
    • Documentation, user manuals, installation guides
    • The system or application being tested

    The ideal candidate will be proficient in environment, automation and performance testing. This role involves ensuring the stability and functionality of systems before release, managing non-production test environments, and supporting quality development throughout the Value Delivery LifeCycle (VDLC).


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Performance Testing:
    • Conduct end-to-end performance testing to ensure functional stability before releases.
    • Develop and execute performance test plans and scripts.
    • Automate using LoadRunner API and build LoadRunner framework for CI/CD.
    • Design and run performance tests on both User Interfaces and batch applications
    • Analyze performance test results and identify areas for improvement.
    • Agile and performance testing – shift left.
    • Drive the Performance Testing by consolidating and ensuring the coherence of the NFR components included in the release, measuring and monitoring performance of application releases, and identifying and mitigating non-functional risks related to release.
    • Escalate and track impediments.
    • Facilitate any new scripting requirements for LoadRunner or new tools.
    • Promote continuous integration and continuous deployment.
    • Proof of concept of scripting, new tooling, etc.
    • Environment testing
    • Ensuring that all components described above are not broken
    • Able to identify and solve issues linked to environment owned
    • Process Improvement:
    • Maintain and enhance documentation for environment setup, deployment processes, and error troubleshooting.
    • Implement automated testing and monitoring solutions.
    • Reduce onboarding time by automating environment setup processes.
    • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
    • Participate in daily meetings to improve team coordination and communication.
    • Provide support in escalation and resolution of general environment issues faced by the squads.

     

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related fields
    • Proven experience as an Environment Tester or similar role
    • Knowledge of performance testing tools and methodologies
    • Familiarity with automated testing tools and frameworks
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
    • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB Certified Tester) or relevant professional certifications
    • Experience with other test automation tools
    • Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and tools
    • Familiarity with version control systems for code management and collaboration
    • Experience in performance testing
    • Competent in scripting using LoadRunner (hands-on)
    • Previous experience with workload modelling
    • CPU/Memory profiling – GC analysis, windows profiling tools
    • SQL profiling – Oracle/SQL server
    • DynaTrace and Splunk
    • Competent in all aspects of Performance Engineering
    • Problem-solving skills
    • Organizational skills
    • Communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders


    Environment Squad Description:

    The Environment Squad is responsible for the effective management of non-production test environments, supporting quality development throughout the VDLC, and defining schedules of activities in each environment. The squad focuses on performance testing, server migration management, and process improvement. Key services provided by the team include end-to-end performance testing, server migration management, and knowledge sharing within the squad.
