We are looking for a storage engineer with automation background to join our team and help us design, implement, and maintain our storage infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and scalability of our storage systems, as well as automating the provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of the storage resources. You will also collaborate with other engineers and developers to optimize the storage solutions for various applications and workloads.
Job Responsibilities
- Be the subject matter expert (SME) for the storage team on all platforms
- Drive day to day operations and work plan allocation/management
- Participates in change control process for Epiq infrastructure changes
- Responsible for tasks including gathering requirements and assisting with design, recommendations of on-premises and cloud-based storage
- Responsible for vendor escalations as required
- Provide technical procedure documents to make sure all admins follow the same process
- Perform, lead, and oversee upgrades, maintenance, migrations, installations, and be able to demonstrate that experience in detail
- Drive service improvement programs. Ensure adherence to quality and security standards
- Participate in audit activities, provide documentation, and maintain compliance
- Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent storage provisioning, uptime, and regulatory compliance
- Participate in on call support rotation as required
- Design and implement storage solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Automate storage operations using scripting languages and tools such as Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Python, etc.
- Monitor and troubleshoot storage systems and resolve any issues or incidents
- Perform backup and recovery of storage data and ensure data integrity and security
- Optimize storage performance and capacity using best practices and industry standards
- Research and evaluate new storage technologies and trends and provide recommendations for improvement
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in storage engineering, administration, or support.
- Strong knowledge of storage technologies like Dell Isilon/Powerscale and NetApp and protocols such as SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, etc.
- Experience in automation and scripting using languages and tools such as Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Python, etc.
- Experience in cloud storage services such as AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage, etc.
- Experience in storage performance tuning and optimization.
- Experience in storage security and compliance.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to learn new technologies and skills quickly. Experience implementing hybrid cloud storage solutions within an enterprise environment
- Familiar with Software Defined storage and hyperconverged infrastructure solutions
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex issues
- Strong knowledge of industry standard IT processes and procedures including ITIL standards
- Able to communicate clearly with peers as well as management
- Strong project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors and vendors; ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives.
