Senior Data Engineer (Java, Databricks)

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our agile team and help design, develop, and evolve the strategic integration backbone between Dealstores, Operations, and Regulatory systems within our Digital Operations Stream. In this role, you will drive solution design and technical architecture, ensuring scalable, robust, and future-ready implementations delivered by Java engineering teams.

Our client is a leading global financial services firm providing wealth management, investment banking, and asset management services to clients worldwide.

This is a hybrid role requiring presence in the client's office in Krakow 3 days a week, with flexible working hours.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end solution and application architecture for the strategic platform that enables trade flows from Dealstores to Operations and Regulatory systems, translates epics and features into scalable, resilient solutions

• Translate business and product requirements into high-level and low-level designs, including integration patterns, data flows, interfaces, and deployment topology decisions

• Provide technical guidance to Java developers within the team by defining implementation approaches, reviewing designs and code, and ensuring adherence to architecture and engineering best practices

• Design and develop key platform components in Java and related technologies, with a balance of hands-on development and architectural responsibilities

• Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to understand and challenge requirements, propose architectural options, and ensure alignment with strategic goals

• Work with cross-functional agile teams in sprints to deliver product requirements iteratively, with solutions that are secure, performant, and observable

Requirements

• Strong Java engineering background with proven experience to design and implement complex backend systems and integrations

• Experience with modern data and processing technologies, including streaming, real-time and batch processing; exposure to Databricks and Kubernetes is a plus

• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., ADO, GitHub, or GitLab)

• Well-versed in cloud architecture with experience to deliver solutions on major cloud providers, preferably Azure, AWS or GCP

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and guide developers, with ambition to grow into a Solution Architect role
