Simulation Solution Architect/Expert

Role Overview:

At Alstom, we are seeking a highly experienced Simulation Architect / Solution Expert (on contract role) to design and implement advanced simulation solutions for Rolling Stock and Components. This role involves defining simulation strategies, managing roadmaps, and ensuring seamless integration within the PLM ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Simulation Roadmap: Consolidate and maintain the roadmap for assigned simulation domains (e.g., FEA, CFD, MBD), including requirements, business cases, high-level solution design, cost estimation, and planning. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.

• Simulation Domains Management: Oversee assigned simulation domains, ensuring quality and on-time delivery of projects. Engage with Business Process Owners (BPOs) to understand pain points and requirements through regular governance meetings.

• PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) Integration: Work closely with simulation BPOs and PLM teams to build strategies to integrate simulation data and tools into the Alstom PLM ecosystem.

• Simulation Strategy & Vision: Contribute to building and evolving the simulation strategy aligned with Alstom’s future vision—optimizing application landscapes, harmonizing HPC platforms, and ensuring PLM integration.

• Supplier Partnership: Build strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers to leverage cutting-edge simulation technologies, accelerating time-to-market for Alstom rolling stocks and components.

• IS&T Project Collaboration: Define requirements and solutions prior to project launch. Partner with project/program management to ensure scope adherence, timely delivery, and quality outcomes.

• Application Landscape Harmonization: Assess and rationalize simulation applications within assigned domains to align with long-term strategic goals of Alstom.

• Business Requirements Consolidation: Gather global stakeholder needs and translate user stories into clear, actionable functional requirements.

• Solution Architecture & Design: Define functional architecture and evaluate internal/external solutions for feasibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

• Business Continuity: Address day-to-day issues related to simulation solutions in coordination with stakeholders.

• License Management: Ensure timely renewal of simulation software licenses, monitor usage, and develop strategies to optimize contracts in collaboration with sourcing and other IS&T teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other relevant discipline

• Minimum 10 years of experience in defining and implementing simulation solutions

• Hands-on experience with simulation tools (Altair, Siemens, Dassault, etc.)

• Knowledge of HPC and cloud-based simulation solutions

• Familiarity with CAE application architecture and administration

• Experience of simulation integration in PLM (3D Experience) is preferred.

• PMP or equivalent project management certification (preferred)

• Roles dedicated to physics-based simulation method development.

• Managing a team of simulation analysts.

• Engaging in mechanical architecture design.
