Introduction & Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with at least 5 years of relevant experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in building and maintaining data pipelines, and optimizing databases. This role is pivotal in our mission to modernize our existing applications and infrastructure as we migrate to a cloud-native Azure architecture.
Main Responsibilities
Design & build data pipelines: Implement enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
Migrate & maintain ETL: Modernize ETL processes and migrate legacy pipelines to the cloud.
Batch & streaming processing: Develop both batch and near-real-time data workflows.
Data warehouse & lake design: Evolve Data Warehouse and Data Lake architectures.
Database performance & ops: Optimize Azure SQL databases for reliability and performance.
Reporting & integration support: Modernize reporting stacks and integrate data from various sources.
Collaboration with backend teams: Work with .NET teams to ensure secure data flows.
Architecture & documentation: Contribute to data architecture and documentation.
Data quality, governance & security: Uphold data quality and comply with industry regulations.
Power BI & analytics support: Support Power BI data models and analytics performance.
Key Requirements
5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
Strong experience with MS SQL Server / Azure SQL.
Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and SSIS.
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Crystal Reports.
Practical knowledge of Azure Data Lake / ADLS Gen2.
Solid understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehouse concepts.
Strong SQL skills, including performance tuning and optimization.
Ability to design end-to-end data solutions and contribute to documentation.
Proven focus on data quality and compliance with security standards.
Experience integrating data from various sources and collaborating with development teams.
Familiarity with Power BI data models and performance considerations.
Nice to Have
Experience with Azure Databricks & Apache Spark.
Migrating legacy ETL and reporting solutions to the cloud.
Knowledge of .NET ecosystem and API integration patterns.
Experience with secure data sources (CyberArk, SFTP).
Knowledge of CI/CD for data platforms.
Understanding of cloud cost management strategies.
Other Details
This is a contract position with working hours from 09:00 to 17:00 CET. The role supports a strategic transformation project aimed at building a modern, data-centric platform on Microsoft Azure.
