Intelligent Operations, Energy Management & Sustainability Consultant

Summary: This role's primary purpose is to lead the energy management, sustainability intelligence, and renewable integration strategy for a significant initiative, ensuring effective carbon performance and supporting a mega-event program for Expo 2030 in Riyadh.

Responsibilities:

• Defining the Expo’s energy and sustainability digital vision across monitoring, optimization, carbon tracking, and sustainability reporting.

• Developing technology and digital strategy for energy management systems, smart grids, distributed energy resources, and renewable optimization.

• Leading requirements for real-time energy monitoring across buildings, districts, and site-wide operations.

• Designing AI-driven optimization, predictive energy management, automated controls, and load-balancing capabilities.

• Defining frameworks for carbon footprint tracking, reporting, reduction targets, and ESG performance monitoring.

• Supporting alignment with Saudi sustainability initiatives and green-building certification requirements (LEED, BREEAM, etc.).

• Assessing vendor landscape across EMS, DER platforms, carbon accounting tools, sustainability reporting systems, smart grid technologies, and ESG analytics platforms.

• Supporting procurement activities, vendor evaluation, and technology partner selection.

Key Requirements:

• Prior Expo or mega-event experience (World Expo, Olympics, FIFA, Formula 1, Hajj-scale operations, etc.).

• Strong experience in sustainability operations, energy management, or utilities digitization.

• Proven background in energy management and sustainability technology strategy.

• Strong understanding of EMS, DER platforms, carbon accounting, ESG reporting, smart grid integration, and optimization technologies.

• Experience translating sustainability and efficiency objectives into measurable digital requirements and vendor-selection criteria.

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with various green-building certification systems beyond LEED and BREEAM.

• Knowledge of emerging technologies in renewables and energy optimization.

• Experience in cross-functional team leadership.
