Data Analyst with Business Analysis skills
The Data Analyst will play a crucial role in data-related projects by leveraging strong technical skills and business analysis capabilities to support initiatives, ensuring effective collaboration between technology and business teams.
Main Responsibilities:
Analyse complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
Write and understand complex SQL queries.
Conduct data validation and ensure data quality and integrity.
Define data quality checks.
Collaborate with technology and business teams to review initiatives and assess impact.
Document user process flows, constraints, logic, contexts, and scenarios.
Profile new and existing data sources (structure, content, quality, readiness).
Conduct detailed data investigations (lineage, anomalies, inconsistencies).
Define and test data quality checks for datasets.
Collaborate with Data Engineering and domain SMEs to document datasets, tables, fields, and definitions.
Perform metadata assessments (definitions, lineage, classifications).
Define and maintain business and technical metadata (e.g., glossary, KPIs, data types, source systems).
Support metadata enrichment through investigation and collaboration.
Contribute to the data catalogue across internal and external sources.
Contribute to logical and physical data models (including curated layers, semantic models, and gold data products).
Recommend improvements to data schema design (performance, standardisation, usability).
Provide ad-hoc analysis for discovery initiatives, migrations, and governance projects.
Support the Product Manager in delivering product outcomes.
Support business teams during UAT and post-production with data analysis and queries.
Support the Engineering team in design based on data understanding.
Key Requirements:
Experience in the retail industry.
Strong data analysis skills.
Proficiency in SQL.
Experience with data validation.
Knowledge of data quality processes.
Nice to Have:
Experience with metadata management.
Familiarity with data modelling techniques.
Understanding of data governance practices.
