Cloud Security Engineer

About the Assignment

We are currently looking for a Cloud Security Engineer to join a Cloud Security team within a large international organization.

In this role, you will be responsible for securing cloud environments, designing secure solutions, and improving the overall security posture. You will work closely with engineering and operations teams to identify risks, implement controls, and automate security processes.

Your Responsibilities

• Implement security controls such as CDK nagpacks, Checkov rules, AWS Config rules, and Service Control Policies (SCPs)

• Define, review, and improve security controls across a wide range of AWS services in enterprise-scale environments

• Support enablement teams in balancing security requirements with flexibility in service configurations

• Translate high-level security requirements into practical engineering solutions and patterns

Your Profile

• 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering and/or cybersecurity

• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud security

• Strong knowledge of IAM, network security, and endpoint protection

• Experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) tools such as SAST, DAST, and SCA

• Familiarity with SIEM, vulnerability management, and incident response

• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar)

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK in TypeScript)

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CCSP, CCSK, AWS Security Specialty) are a plus

• Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST and CIS

Working Environment

You will join a Cloud Security team of 3 engineers and be part of a broader AWS platform team of 10 engineers. The work atmosphere is professional, collaborative, and informal, with a strong focus on teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Hybrid working is standard. Together with your team, you determine the best balance between working from home and the office in The Hague.
