C++ Tools Engineer (Level/World)
Our client is looking for an experienced Tools Engineer to join their development team and help build high-quality in-engine tools that empower level designers and world builders. In this role, you will work directly in Unreal Engine, creating robust, user-friendly tools that streamline world creation, iteration, and content workflows in a AAA production environment.
Start: ASAP
Length: 6 months with possible extension
Location: Must be on-site in Stockholm 4 days per week
You will collaborate closely with level designers, artists, and engineers to identify workflow bottlenecks and translate creative needs into efficient technical solutions. The focus is entirely on in-engine tooling, not external or backend tools.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain in-engine tools directly within Unreal Engine
Create tools that improve level creation, world building, and iteration workflows
Work closely with level designers and level artists to understand production needs
Ensure tools are performant, stable, and scalable for AAA production
Support and iterate on tools based on feedback from content creators
Collaborate with gameplay, engine, and technical art teams
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of professional experience working with Unreal Engine
At least 5 years of professional C++ experience
Proven experience developing tools (tooling is a must)
Strong experience creating in-engine tools within Unreal Engine
Previous experience working on AAA games or AAA-scale productions

Strong understanding of level design, world building, or level art workflows
Hands-on experience creating or supporting large-scale game worlds
