C++ Tools Engineer (Gameplay AI)
Our client is seeking a skilled Tools Engineer with a focus on Gameplay AI to develop in-engine tools that support AI development, debugging, and iteration. This role is centered on building tools directly inside Unreal Engine that help designers and AI programmers efficiently create, tune, and visualize gameplay AI systems in a AAA environment.

Length: 6 months with possible extension
Location: Must be on-site in Stockholm 4 days per week
You will work closely with gameplay programmers, AI designers, and other engineers to improve workflows and enable rapid iteration on complex AI behaviors. As with all tooling roles, the focus is strictly on in-engine tools rather than backend or external systems.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain in-engine tools in Unreal Engine for gameplay AI workflows
Create tools for AI debugging, visualization, tuning, and iteration
Collaborate with gameplay programmers and AI designers to understand tooling needs
Improve usability and performance of AI-related tools for large-scale productions
Support ongoing development by refining tools based on team feedback
Work alongside other engineers to ensure tools integrate smoothly with gameplay systems
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of professional experience with Unreal Engine
At least 5 years of professional C++ experience
Proven experience developing tools, specifically in-engine tooling
Hands-on experience working with gameplay AI systems in Unreal Engine
AAA game development experience

Experience creating tools that visualize or debug complex AI behaviors
