This role sits within the 1st Line of Defence Risk and Control function and supports the organisation in preparing for operational disruptions, strengthening resilience during incidents, and ensuring the effective protection of customers, business operations, and regulatory obligations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and embedding a robust Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Incident Management framework across the organisation.
Business Continuity Management
Own and deliver Business Impact Assessments (BIAs) across all non-IT business functions.
Facilitate Risk Analysis workshops with stakeholders across the business.
Work closely with Technology Resilience teams to ensure alignment with Disaster Recovery (DR) plans.
Support the development, maintenance, and approval of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) for all business areas.
Design, execute, and document BCP testing and exercising activities.
Contribute to the annual BCM framework, including review, testing, and governance of BIAs and BCPs.
Track, maintain, and report BCM metrics, risks, and progress.
Deliver Business Continuity training and awareness sessions where required.
Incident & Crisis Management
Manage end-to-end operational incidents, including regulatory, fraud, conduct, and service disruption events.
Execute the organisation’s incident response framework, ensuring accurate classification, timely escalation, and effective resolution.
Support crisis response activities and ensure clear communication during high-pressure incidents.
8+ years’ experience in non-financial risk, operational resilience, incident management, or business continuity within a regulated UK financial institution.
Strong understanding of PRA/FCA regulatory expectations, including SS1/21, PS21/3, and operational risk management frameworks.
Proven experience managing major incidents and crisis situations in large organisations.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively in high-stress environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and control enhancement.
Experience operating Crisis Management frameworks such as Gold, Silver, and Bronze structures.
Demonstrated ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge the status quo.
