FinOps Analyst

We are looking for FinOps Analyst on behalf of our client to join to the leader from the payment sector.

Contract: B2B

📍 Remote from Poland with occasional visits Wroclaw (1-3 days per month)

AWS experience is a must for this position. On Mastercard side, reporting at the team or technology stack level relies heavily on writing Athena queries (SQL-like) against AWS Cost and Usage Report (CUR) tables. Given our extensive use of AWS resources, a strong understanding of the pricing models and how they apply to various services is essential. Without prior AWS experience, ramping up on both the pricing model and the query logic will be a considerable lift for someone in a short period of time.

Scope of Work:

• Identify elements of total cost and measures of utilization in collaboration with engineering team . 

• Identify opportunities for automation in FinOps to improve efficiency. Improve tagging.  

• Monitor, analyze, and report on costs and utilization across products, cloud providers, and classification levels ( teams, customers) 

• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track expenditures and utilization. 

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations for optimization. 

• Analyze variances between actual spend and budgeted amounts, providing insights and corrective actions. 

• Collaborate with finance and engineering teams to ensure accurate financial planning. 

• Work with engineering teams to automate cost management and reporting. 

• Continuously explore new tools and technologies that can enhance FinOps capabilities. 

Skill set 

• Experience in Cloud Infrastructure management.  

• 5+ years of experience in a FinOps, cloud financial management, or similar role. 

• Proven experience in implementing FinOps function 

• Proven experience in implementing Tagging Standards 

• Expertise in AWS Services and cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cur 2.0, Athena queries) 

• Prover experience in identifying savings opportunities and anomaly detection
