Senior Mainframe Application Support Engineer

Senior Mainframe Application Support Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Participate in a BizDevOps SAFe Agile team, focusing on application maintenance and lifecycle management

• Deliver activities required to meet SLA objectives and ensure high‑quality IT services

• Handle incident management, problem management, and service fulfillment

• Deliver services in line with agreed scope, quality and timelines

• Take ownership of assigned parts of change initiatives, collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver sustainable solutions

• Contribute to backlog management during SAFe ceremonies, including refinement and planning of Agile stories supporting prioritised Epics and Features

• Improve the robustness and quality of applications to ensure a reliable, scalable, and up‑to‑date production environment

• Continuously follow best practices and latest developments within own area of expertise to ensure ongoing professional development

Requirements:

• Deep operational experience with IBM Mainframe z/OS

• Strong experience with DB2, including searching and querying data

• Ability to read and search files in hexadecimal format on the mainframe

• Experience with JCL

• Experience with TWS / OPC

• Payments processing experience

• Knowledge of debit and credit transactions

• Experience with transaction and statement processing

• Knowledge of SWIFT messaging, including: MT940, MT950, camt.052 and camt.053

• Strong focus on business problems and business impact

• Systematic and structured working approach

• Very good command of English, both spoken and written

Nice to have:

• Previous hands‑on experience in application maintenance

• Experience managing applications on Red Hat Linux
