Senior Data Engineer (Azure Databricks & Lakehouse Architecture)
Join an enterprise-scale international organization in the travel and transportation industry specializing in river cruises. You will step in as a critical backfill for a departing veteran engineer who has spent a decade scaling this project. Culturally, this environment operates with a dynamic, startup-like mindset. You will take ownership of evolving a modern cloud data platform, managing data migrations, and designing robust data structures without relying on heavy documentation or rigid formal processes.

Standard business hours (8:00–16:00 or 9:00–17:00).

Responsibilities
Architecture Evolution: Design, build, and optimize enterprise data architectures using Data Lake, Delta Lake, Lakehouse, DWH, and Data Mart configurations.
Pipeline Engineering: Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
Cloud Migration: Guide and support ongoing data and solution migrations from on-premise environments to the Azure cloud.
Data Modeling: Design, modify, and implement complex data models that align with rapidly shifting business requirements.
Security & Governance: Ensure all cloud architectures comply with modern data security standards and regulatory best practices.
Proactive Delivery: Collaborate with international stakeholders, identify technical risks early, communicate blockers assertively, and suggest pragmatic solutions.
Requirements
Experience Baseline: Minimum 5 years in IT, with at least 3.5 years of production-grade commercial experience dedicated to cloud data engineering.
Azure Data Stack: Extensive hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Server, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Power BI.
Databricks Ecosystem: Deep expertise in Azure Databricks, focusing specifically on Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, and Unity Catalog.
Migration Patterns: Proven track record of handling diverse on-premise to cloud data migration strategies.
DevOps & Repositories: Solid understanding of Git workflows, repository management, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
Language Proficiency: English at a minimum B2+ level for daily collaboration in an international environment.
