QA Automation Engineer

Job Overview

TISSL is proudly part of ClearCourse – a UK-based technology group that provides software and payments for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including start-ups, national retailers, many of the best-known charities, and notable brands across various sectors. 

As we continue to rapidly grow our customer base, we require a QA Automation Engineer to join our team and help us build & maintain test plans for our products. The ideal candidate will have strong experience using issue tracking systems to document and build regression test plans, as well as experience with build and deployment pipelines for integrating quality assurance control. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in .NET technologies, extensive experience in quality assurance processes, and a passion for building scalable testing solutions. You will play a key role in building and maintaining a QA maturity model, starting with manual test coverage and progressing toward automating the most critical tests. 

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Creation and maintenance of regression test plans and scripts for multiple products in the division.
• Creation and maintenance of release test strategy with clearly defined entry / exit criteria for multiple products.
• Documentation of plans, procedures and pipelines.
• Collaborative feedback to the tech and development teams.
• Maintain technical documentation and procedures for plans, pipelines and operations processes.

Testing and Automation

• Start with manual testing to establish baseline test coverage for critical software functionalities.
• Prioritise, design, and develop automated test cases for high-impact areas to ensure scalability and efficiency.
• Create and maintain reusable test scripts and frameworks for UI, API, and integration testing.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure testability of code and alignment with automation goals.

Continuous Improvement

• Monitor and report on QA metrics to track progress against quality goals.
• Conduct root cause analysis of defects and implement preventive measures.
• Stay updated with the latest QA trends, tools, and methodologies to continuously improve the QA process.

Required attributes and experience:

• 3 years Automated Testing experience (Playwright/Selenium + JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Knowledge of core testing concepts and procedures.
• Experience using a test case management system.
• Higher education qualifications relevant to the role.
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for application deployments.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Good technical documentation & knowledge sharing skills. 

Desired skills and experience:

• Experience using an issue/defect management system (i.e. Jira/AzureDevops Test Plan).
• Experience tracking quality assurance metrics, such as open defect counts and trends.
• Experience with performance / security testing tools (i.e. JMeter)
