Backend Developer

We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer to join our consulting team and work with a major banking client. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in AWS security, encryption algorithms, and backend development using Node.js. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable backend services in a cloud-native environment.

Job responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js.

• Implement, secure, and optimize cloud solutions using AWS services.

• Apply best practices in AWS security, including IAM, key management, and encryption.

• Work with encryption algorithms and data protection mechanisms relevant to financial systems.

• Build and maintain RESTful APIs that are robust, scalable, and well-documented.

• Create and maintain API specifications using Swagger/OpenAPI.

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar.

• Collaborate with DevOps, QA, architecture, and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal security policies required in the banking domain.

• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call rotation as needed.

• Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture planning.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 3+ years of professional experience with AWS, including strong knowledge of: IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager VPC, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch AWS security best practices

• 3+ years of experience developing in Node.js.

• Strong understanding of encryption algorithms, secure key handling, and data protection.

• 3+ years building RESTful APIs.

• 3+ years working with Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines.

• Experience working in regulated industries (banking, financial services) is a plus.

• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native application development.

• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Mocha, Jest, etc.) is an advantage.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

• Comfortable working in an Agile/SCRUM setting – ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to adapt to changing priorities

• AWS Developer Certification is desired

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including proactive risk management and mitigation experience
