Senior Cloud Data Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Data Engineer professional to join the Risk Management team.

About the role:

The Senior Cloud Data Engineer role is crucial for our strategical project, migrating Oracle Data Warehouse to Google Cloud Platform. Person allocated to this position will be involved in various activities related with understanding legacy solution, participate in design meetings, reengineering the implemented business logic, adapt SQL syntax to platform requirements, implement new requirements in Google Cloud Platform, ensuring compatibility, performance, and scalability.

This role is part of the Scrum Development Team, work closely with product owner, data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data quality, security, and accessibility.

Experience with both Oracle, GCP Dataform and BigQuery is essential for this position, along with strong programming skills and deep understanding of data warehousing principles.

What you will be doing as Senior Cloud Data Engineer?

1. Implement new functionalities & logic following defined by the business requirements, in Google Cloud Platform (mainly using BigQuery and Dataform services).
2. Actively operate in relational and multidimensional databases environment.
3. Participate in the process of tailoring & scaling the solution, troubleshooting, code optimization and post deployment quality checks to ensure high performance, efficient resource utilization, and in GCP cost-effectiveness.
4. Develop and optimize data transformation and loading processes using appropriate tools and technologies.
5. Migrate and modernize existing Oracle data structures and adapt it for BigQuery while leveraging cloud-native features and functionalities, ensuring data integrity, scalability, optimal performance and cost efficiency.
6. Effectively use company’s standardized pipeline components, propose adjustments and best practices to data engineering developing methods.
7. Cooperate with integration and data & analytics technology teams to establish and maintain automated data lineage throughout the migration process.
8. Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy and security regulations. Integrate company’s security standards into the GCP environment.
9. Mentor junior team members and share your expertise with Google Cloud, Dataform and BigQuery.

What do we expect from our future Senior Cloud Data Engineer?

1. Work experience as data engineer.
2. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field preferred.
3. Experience with Oracle PL/SQL (preferred), including stored procedures, functions, packages, and riggers.
4. Experience with GCP BigQuery, Dataform scripting including data modeling, query optimization, and data manipulation.
5. Experience with Git/Bitbucket/Azure Repos for version control and collaboration.
6. Experience with data warehouses and ETL processes.
7. Experience with integrating various data sources.
8. Good knowledge of Oracle analytical functions.
9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
10. Fluent English.
