Overview:

The Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/n) will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable backend systems for Bunge's digital products. The Senior Backend Engineer will work with a team of talented engineers to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and security of Bunge’s backend services. This senior-level role requires advanced technical expertise in backend technologies, exceptional problem-solving skills, the ability to provide technical guidance to other team members as well as oversee/validate outcomes delivered by contracted vendors. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about building reliable and efficient backend services that drive the company's digital initiatives.

Essential Functions:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services and APIs using industry-standard frameworks.

• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.

• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define API requirements and specifications.

• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with team members.

• Troubleshoot and debug backend issues, and implement solutions to resolve them.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest backend technologies and best practices, and share knowledge with the team.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process and codebase.

• Ensure that backend systems are optimized for performance and scalability.

• Guide teammates on developing efficient and secure backend components

• Establish and promote best practices, standards and guidelines related to back-end engineering for Bunge technology products.

Knowledge and Technical Competencies:

• Strong proficiency in Java,

• Experience with building RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Knowledge of database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB (cloud databases are plus).

• Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud preferred).

• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Understanding of software development best practices and design patterns.

• Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Education/Experience:

• Typically Bachelor's degree with 5 - 10 years of position related experience, or equivalent combo of education and experience level. Has in-depth knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge (know as reference) of related disciplines.

• Experience with working in agile projects.

• Fluency in English
