Job description

We're Looking for a Java Developer!

This time you have the chance to be part of a project related to the development, consulting and support of IT systems for Frontex. The European Border and Coast Guard Agency supports EU Member States and Schengen-associated countries in the management of the EU's external borders and the fight against cross-border crime.


Our expectations

  • 5+ years of experience as a Java Developer.

  • Experience with J2EE, JMS and JBoss.

  • Experience with PostgreSQL, OpenLayers, and ElasticSearch.

  • Expertise in developing enterprise-level software systems.

  • Proficiency in UML, with the ability to design applications using it.

  • Proficiency in designing and developing the data layer, business logic layer, and UI layer.

  • Experience in Scrum-organised teams.

  • Proven capability to lead technical teams.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively document technical solutions.

  • Fluent in English (C1 level).

  • At least one intermediate-level certification in software development relevant to the domain or an equivalent, internationally recognized certification.


Nice-to-have

Experience with:

  • Angular

  • GIS, ArcGIS

  • BI


Key tasks

  • Design and develop software systems.

  • Translate requirements into technical designs.

  • Lead development teams and set software standards.

  • Propose technical solutions for business and technical challenges.

  • Estimate time and effort for development projects.

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation.

  • Manage configuration and releases.

  • Contribute to all stages of the software lifecycle, including analysis, testing, quality assurance, and deployment.

  • Collect and interpret software metrics.

  • Develop and test solutions, and prototype new ones.

  • Act as 2nd and 3rd line support for systems.
