LOCATION: Kraków or remotely from Poland 


We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer who will help us to build a sustainable data processing flow for our Engagement team. You will have a chance to build a Single Source of Truth data warehouse and an opportunity to create and shape data models for reporting purposes and will take part in choosing solutions and technologies in this area.

User engagement is one of the key factors of our success, and it is omnipresent in every part of our product. Building products that people love with a business value on top of that is the key.

One of the biggest projects currently developed is a gamification system to reward users for their activity within the Brainly ecosystem and encourage them to make use of the full breadth of Brainly features in their intended way. Gamification is the biggest area of investment in the engagement team, and there are a lot of challenges in front of us to address.

The Product Teams at Brainly are working on some of the most complex technical challenges in the ed-tech space and creating a product for over 350 million students from all around the world. We focus on building the infrastructure and features that enable Brainly users to learn and collaborate, ask and answer millions of questions every day. On a daily basis, you will work with a fully independent product team that includes developers, product designers, QA. You will take full responsibility for your product area from conception to completion creating valuable and engaging products. All of the features that we are releasing are under the A/B/n test, so you’ll see how your work impacts students and the company in practice.



WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Work on data processing framework from gathering business requirements through designing and implementing them
  • Create new data flows as a platform solution for analytical, reporting and data science purposes
  • Work cross-functionally with analysts and various engineering and data science teams to identify and execute new opportunities in data platform development
  • Develop high performance and scalable data infrastructure


WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE?

  • At least 4 years in a similar position in Data Engineering or a related field
  • Deep understanding of dimensional modelling concepts and relational databases
  • Writing complex SQL and ETL processes
  • Knowledge of Redshift, Google Big Query, ETL/CDC Tools
  • Dealing with the whole development process from business requirements to implementation on your own, making crucial decisions regarding technical solutions and overall design of a system
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and data warehouse principles
  • Understanding the difference between ETL and ELT approaches


WHAT MIGHT BE BENEFICIAL?

  • Experience in cloud-based infrastructure (AWS Services, Google Cloud Platform or other)
  • Experience in working with complex sets of data in a high-availability environment
  • Working knowledge of microservice-based architecture and messaging system
  • Reporting/visualization tools (Tableau, Metabase, Google Data Studio)
